War Memorial in Chapel Square at
Royal Military Academy

GV II

War memorial. c1920. Bronze and stone. Top part is bronze
group of 3 soldiers resting on arms reversed and is a memorial
to the soldiers of the 27th Division who died in World War I.
It is a replica, exhibited at the Royal Academy and presented
to Sandhurst by Lady Helena Gleichen. The original was
sculpted by Lady Feodara Gleichen and stands at Monchy le
Preux in France. The bronze group stands on a stone cruciform
base with moulded plinth. The base is inscribed "To the Glory
of God and In Pround Memory of All Other Ranks Who Gave Their
Lives In Two World Wars 1914-18. 1939-45".
