House. c1780 with later additions and alterations including mid
C19 bay windows. For Mr Boughton, nurseryman. Reddish-pink brick
in Flemish bond with plain tile roof; end brick stacks with
oversailing courses.
2 storeys with attic to gable, 3 first-floor windows. First floor
has central round-arched staircase 6/6 sash in flush frame with
Gothic glazing bars to head and with round arch of rubbed brick,
imposts and keystone; otherwise first floor has 8/8 flush-framed
sashes with flat arches of rubbed brick and raised keystones.
Ground floor has 2 bow windows with 8/8 sashes, curved on
section, with flat arches of rubbed brick and keystones. Central
entrance a 6-panel door with fanlight with Gothic glazing bars to
head in doorcase with open pediment on slender corbel brackets.
Crowning modillion eaves band. 3/3 sash to left gable.
INTERIOR: retains original plasterwork and joinery including
4-panel doors and has dogleg staircase with probably early C18
rod-on-vase balusters with square knops said to have been
inserted early-mid C20.
Forms a good group with No.201, said to have been built for
Boughton's son.
