Spa well house. 1860. Built for Mr John Stevenson, a local Druggist and Veterinary Surgeon. Red brick with slate roof.
Single storey, circular plan with steep conical roof with alternating bands of different coloured slate and stone eaves. Topped with octagonal cupola with conical lead roof and pinnacle.
Attached to rear yard wall of No 4 Blagdale Terrace with single 4-panel door in rear wall.
INTERIOR is lined with white glazed tiles, stone paved floor with central circular trap door leading via iron ladder to well below. Fixed sink with brass tap and marble top has inlaid wooden frame with scroll support. Fixed single curved wooden bench with stencilled decoration. Roof has 20 chamfered wooden beams, also with stencilled decoration, top lit by cupola with coloured glass panes.
