2 houses, now hotel and inn. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with
slate roof and brick end stacks; wrought-iron balconies.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys (No.9 lower), 7 first-floor windows (3:4).
First-floor band to right part. 6/6 sashes where original with
4/4 sashes to second floor. Entrances to 2nd and 6th bays:
c1980 glazed doors, with fanlights, that to left is blind,
that to right has batwing and circle type glazing and lattice
frieze. Crowning friezes and with cornice to right.
INTERIOR: retain original joinery including panelled shutters
and dogleg staircase with stick balusters and wreathed
handrail to right; original plasterwork to right, otherwise
not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor balconies have rod and circle
motif to left and Canterbury Bell Motif with elaborate
circular scroll and bell panels to right.
