Pair of semi-detached villas and attached railings to right.
c1820-32. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof, central
stucco stack and stack to rear at left; iron porch. Double
depth plan with side hallways and full-height service ranges
to rear.
EXTERIOR: main range of 2 storeys on basement with 2-storey,
single entrance bays set back to sides; 6 first-floor windows
arranged 1:4:1. Stucco detailing includes first-floor band
interrupted by central pilaster with sunk panel. 6/6 sashes
throughout, taller to ground floor, all in plain reveals and
with sills; Venetian blinds and blind boxes to right. Basement
has 3/6 sashes. 4 steps to end entrances, 5-panel doors, that
to left part-glazed. with fanlights with radial glazing bars,
that to left within porch with pilasters and dentil frieze.
Wide eaves. Rear has 6/6 sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: porch to right has scroll-motif to
uprights and openwork frieze and X-motif balustrade to side of
steps.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Park Place was developed by 1832. Forms a
group with and abuts Nos 20-34 (even) (qqv) and No.40 Park
Place with No.8 Ashford Road (qv).
