Monument. c1875, restored 1984. By Baker of Southsea. Ashlar
stone. 4-sided obelisk on stepped base. Inscriptions read
"Erected by Commodore A.F.R. De Horsey, A.D.C., the Officers
and men 1873-1874 on board H.M.S. Aboukir. In memory of 48
Officers and Men who died during the epidemic of yellow fever
on board H.M.S. Aboukir at Jamaica in 1873-74". Bronze plaque
reads "Restored in 1984 by the descendants of Mr A.E. Thomas
and Mrs E.E. Thomas".
