03/08/72 Potter's Cottage

GV II

House. C17, probably mid, altered. Square-panel timber-framing
with part-rendered and part-painted brick nogging on plinth,
partly stone. Left bay rebuilt in brick but retains
timber-framed gable end. Roof of plain old tiles with 2 full
dormers. Brick stacks: double to left of centre; external,
forward of ridge, on right.
PLAN: former baffle-entry plan with central rear timber-framed
wing and later brick wing to rear right.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic. 3 bays. Main frontage:
near-central plank door within framing, now unused, with small
inserted window on left; 3-light window below segmental arch
further left; 2 metal casement windows on right; 3-light
casements to dormers; infilled segmental-arched doorway at
left end. Present entrance is in brick wing.
INTERIOR: back-to-back fireplace; exposed timber-framing,
ceiling beams, joists and partition framework of right-hand
bay.
