Villa, now 2 dwellings. 1840-50 with later additions and
alterations. Brick with stucco facades and fish-scale slate
roof with unpainted stucco stacks. Eclectic cottage ornee.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 5 bays including projecting single-storey
entrance porch at left. Entrance porch has 6-panel part-glazed
door with fanlight and tooled arched hood with keystone; above
this a pierced balcony; first floor is set back and has fluted
end pilaster, blind opening and hoodmould. 2nd projecting
gabled bay has full-height fluted Doric pilasters to ends and
decorative barge-boards, 1/1 first-floor and 2/2 ground-floor
sashes with hoodmoulds; 3rd bay has fluted pilaster at right,
1/1 sash with hoodmould to first floor and 2/2 sash to ground
floor, then to ground-floor a canted bay window and gable
above 3-light mullioned first-floor window with 1/1 sashes and
hoodmould, decorative barge-boards; and right end octagonal
turret. Projecting bay has two 1/1 (first-floor) and two 2/2
(ground-floor) sashes, all with hoodmoulds; canted bay and
3-light window above have mullion windows, to first floor with
1/1 sashes and hoodmould with carved panel above. Turret has
1/1 sashes and upper panels of carved ornament. Further
entrance to right return a 4-panel door. Right return has
fluted end Doric pilasters.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
An idiosyncratic terrace design, with a mixture of Italianate,
Swiss and Tudor Revival details.
