railings to St Mary's Churchyard

GV II

Churchyard boundary walls, with gate piers, gates and
railings. c1853. By J Cornell at a cost of ยป685, with early
C20 lychgate. Limestone ashlar with iron railings and gates.
Dwarf wall with shaped copings, cross-gabled piers at
intervals and cusping in the gables. Railings have arrowhead
bars. Gateways in recesses to north-east, west and south,
double gates with arrowhead bars and dogbars, but with single
gate to east. Timber lychgate to north-west.
A significant streetscape feature, forming an integral part of
the setting for Church of St Mary (qv).
