Mortuary, now a shop. Late C19. Plymouth limestone brought to
course and freestone dressings; dry slate roof, hipped on the
right. Rectangular plan.
Single storey; 3-bay front with central pedimented bay broken
forward. Plinth, transom string, parapet entablature
surmounted by turned balustrade and frieze under pediment
inscribed DE MORTUIS NIL NISI BONUM. The coped pediment has
central acroterion with acanthus and flanking acroteria with
turned finials, the left-hand finial with the ball missing;
central coat of arms and. Large central tripartite window with
column mullions with carved capitals; doorway with nook shafts
to left-hand bay and narrow moulded transomed window to
right-hand bay.
INTERIOR: not inspected. A fine quality stone facade; group
value with the former Plymouth Corporation housing to the
north.
