Former Wesleyan school, now in use as offices. Dated 1887.
Coursed and squared rubble with ashlar dressings and steeply
pitched Welsh slate roof. Gothic style. Reminiscent of
ecclesiastical building with tower offset to W and main range
oriented N-S.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, the principal storey at first-floor
level. Moulded arched doorway in base of tower, which has
chamfered angles. 3-light wood mullioned and transomed window
over with steep relieving arch over ashlar lintel. Wood
lantern behind parapet above, with steep gablets cutting into
squat spire. Paired 3-light mullioned and transomed windows
with relieving arches in main gable alongside tower, paired
arched windows above recessed in moulded arch with circular
window in spandrel. This centre projects slightly, and is
flanked each side by a narrow window on each floor. Doorway to
right balances that in base of tower. Additional lower gable
beyond, with 4-light mullioned and transomed windows. 6-window
return elevation to W is symmetrically arranged beyond the
tower, with advanced gables and central 4-window range divided
by full-height pilasters, each with 2-light mullioned and
transomed window, with relieving arches over lower windows.
Central canted gable projects from N wall, with 4-light
mullioned and transomed window to first floor, and paired
2-light mullioned and transomed windows below.
