House. 1810-1840. Brick in Flemish bond. Hipped roof of slate.
2 storeys and dormers over basement.
3-window range. All openings are flat-arched, the windows with
gauged brick lintels. Up steps in centre to entrance with
decorative overlight, set in Doric prostyle porch with
entablature and blocking course. The ground-floor windows with
cast-iron balconettes in a Greek Revival pattern. The centre
range projects by one brick's thickness. Giant pilasters of
brick to corners, terminating in cornice string. Narrow attic
storey with 3 blind, rectangular windows. Projecting boxed
eaves. 2 flat-arched dormers. Second entrance to the right
return reached up a flight of stairs.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: handrails to steps.
Single-storey structure to the left is not of architectural
interest and is not included in this listing.
Forms a group with Nos 223-233 (odd) (qv) & 237-241 (odd)
(qv).
