Cornmill and warehouse, now in residential use. 1882, rebuilt
after fire 1894-8, restored and converted 1981-3. Stock brick
with yellow brick dressings, slightly projecting brick parapet
with stone coping, recent roof extensions behind.
PLAN: dockside mill and warehouse range of former St Saviour's
Flour Mill, part of a complex of buildings arranged around a
courtyard on the east side of St Saviour's Dock.
EXTERIOR: 6 storeys, 21 bays with a 3-bay return to the river.
Main elevation to dock: reads as 3 identical sections
(reflecting original internal divisions), each with a
2:1:1:1:2 rhythm of full-height segmental-arched recesses
containing hatchranks with added balconies (in bays flanking
central bay) or segmental-arched windows, single (in central
bay) or paired (in outer bays). All segmental arches are
gauged, yellow brick. 2 large C20 lattice gibbed cranes are
mounted between the 2nd and 5th floors.
Inset corner to river return of 3 bays. Central bay has hatch
rank (with added balconies) in round-arched, full-height
recess. Bays either side have segmental-headed windows in
full-height, segmental-arched recesses. All arches are of
gauged, yellow brick. Parapet above central bay raised with a
corniced panel. Courtyard elevation with similar detailing.
INTERIOR: cruciform cast-iron columns to internal structure.
Strong group value with the other New Concordia Wharf
buildings (qqv), and with the whole range of warehouses with
elevations to St Saviour's Dock (qqv).
