House, formerly the Liberal Club. Post-1794 (following a
fire), c1800. Smooth-plastered mass wall construction; slate
roof, gabled at ends; end stacks. On an elevated section of
pavement on Angel Hill. Deep plan, one room wide, front door
to right.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and basement. Deep eaves on paired eaves
brackets. Good pilastered doorcase with fluted pilasters with
capitals and a cornice with a modillion frieze. Steps up to
6-panel door, top panels glazed, middle fielded, lower panels
flush. Windows probably original; ground-floor window right
has an 8 over on-pane sash (lower light missing original
glazing bars); first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes; second
floor are 4 over 8-pane.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may be of interest.
