Farmhouse with added outhouse and porch-wing, now dwelling.
Probably late C17 or early C18; altered in C19, and recently
renovated. Roughly coursed sandstone rubble with quoins (the
house with remains of whitewash), graduated stone slate roof.
Single-depth 2-unit plan on south-west/north-east axis facing
south-east, with a shallow outshut to the rear of the 2nd
unit, a very prominent porch-wing added to the centre of the
front, and a 1-bay outbuilding added to the left.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and 3 windows, grouped 2:1. The
single-storey porch-wing covers a square-headed doorway offset
right of centre, and above this addition is pitched
water-tabling of a formerly higher porch. To the left, the
ground floor has two 2-light mullioned windows, that to the
left with a lowered sill, a stone slate dripband over this run
out to the right, and the other with a raised lintel, and
above these the 1st floor has a small 2-light casement and a
small 3-light mullioned window with a drip-band. To the right
the ground floor has a drip-band over a 2-light window with
renewed mullions, and a chamfered 1-light window, the upper
floor has a 3-light window (one mullion renewed) with a
similar drip-band. Square ridge chimney at junction to left,
gable chimney to right. Porch-wing has doorway and window in
left side, window and chimney to gable end. Outbuilding to
left has doorway abutting junction. Rear: 2 very small windows
to left, loft doorway to outbuilding altered as window.
INTERIOR: refurbished, but retains C18 corbelled fireplace and
pegged principal-rafter roof truss (tie-beam severed).
