Farmhouse with attached barn; now dwelling. Probably late C17
or early C18; extended, altered and refurbished. Roughly
coursed mixed rubble with quoins, the front of the house and
its north end painted white; stone slate roof. Single-depth
2-unit plan on a north-south axis, facing east and at
right-angles to a steep slope; with the barn on a higher level
at the south end; extended at an early date by the addition of
2 gabled wings to the rear with a lean-to outshut between
them.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with 4 small windows at 1st floor. The
ground floor has a gabled porch offset right, 2 windows to the
left and one to the right, that at the left end square with a
chamfered surround and stone slate drip-mould but the others
enlarged in C20; the upper floor has two 4-pane sashes to the
left and a 2-light casement and 1-light window to the right.
Large stepped gable chimney at junction with barn to left
(probably corbelled); small gable chimney to right. Barn to
left has doorway abutting junction, blocked doorway near south
end and a slit breather between these. North return side of
house has some through-stones and 2 small windows on each
floor. Rear: doorway in outshut and inserted window above and
right; one small window on each floor of south wing; 1-light
window at ground floor of north wing, and base of former
square gable chimney. Barn has 2 wagon doorways on this side,
one with a wooden lintel and the other with rubble voussoirs.
