Barn; unoccupied and recently sold at time of inspection
(August 1994). Probably early to mid C18. Mixed random rubble
with irregular quoins, stone slate roof with blue slate in the
top courses. Rectangular plan on north-south axis facing west,
gable to road; probably 4 bays. The west front has a
segmental-headed wagon doorway to the 2nd bay, with rubble
voussoirs and old board doors, and steps up to a loft doorway
in the 4th bay. The south gable wall has a shippon doorway
offset slightly right, with a stone lintel and board door, a
small square window to the left, and a square owl-hole at the
apex. The rear has a former wagon doorway opposed to that at
the front, and with similar rubble voussoirs, now partly
blocked; and a doorway to the 3rd bay with a humped sandstone
lintel. INTERIOR not inspected. Forms group with Mire House
(qv).
