Lime kiln on field boundary to south
of road approx. 100m SW of High
Croft
II
Lime kiln. Probably 1840s, and probably by professional mason.
Large sandstone rubble brought to courses. Square plan, built
into slope. Approx. 3.8 metres high, with battered front and
sides, and with 2 slightly stepped back tiers above the draw
hole. Rectangular draw hole opening 1.25 metres high. Coping
missing. Bowl on top partly filled in. A good example of its
type; very similar to lime kiln approx. 100m south-east of
High Chapel (qv).
