Rectory, now house. Mid C18. Brick with slate roof. 2 parallel
gabled blocks with central projecting gabled bay to front and
back. Parallel blocks run east-west and were built onto
earlier core of 5-bay range running north-south.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic. North front is a 5-window range
with central window-bay slightly advanced under gable. 6/6
sashes with gauged brick lintels flanking central Venetian
sash over pedimented glazed entrance door and doorcase, and
lunette sash in attic gable over. Venetian and lunette windows
have plain entablatures and projecting keystones. Doorcase
with flat pilasters with console brackets and open pediment
with re-entrant semicircular fanlight with star-shaped glazing
bars; 9-light glazed door with side lights. One small
additional later casement irregularly set at each storey.
Brick storey band. Timber cornice and gable bargeboards. Right
return side: front block with two 6/6 sashes to ground and
first floors, and 8/8 sash to attic. Rear block: blocked attic
lunette set in gable-end with bargeboards; 6-panelled door
with raised fielded panels in doorcase with eared moulded
architrave; first floor masked by flat-roofed extension with
rendered canted walls supported on plain round cast-iron
columns.
Rear: 5-window range with 6/6 sashes with brick
segmental-arched lintels flanking central projecting gabled
bay. Lunette sash in attic gable. Central projection has
flat-roofed 2-storey 3-sided canted bay with 6/6 sashes with
brick segmental-arched lintels and stone sills on each face
and with 8-light French doors at ground-floor centre. Dentil
brick eaves with gable bargeboards on deep verge. Left return
side: front block with two 6/6 sashes and single 6/6 sash in
attic gable, all with brick segmental-arched lintels and stone
sills; French doors at ground floor of 3-lights over low
panel, set under fanlight with glazing bars and brick
round-arched lintel. Early C19 2-storey slate-roofed stone and
brick service wing masks gable-end of rear block.
INTERIOR: ground-floor rooms retain some original moulded
cornices, 6-panel doors in moulded cases, and sash boxes to
front sashes. Original chimneypieces in west room of front
range at ground and first floors and in central room of rear
block. Oak staircase in front block with column on vase
balusters with toadback handrail. Original core of 5-bay
north-south range has 4 twin-strut and collar trusses and
single trenched purlin roof.
