Wall, gateway, overthrow and water trough to churchyard of St Michael

Wall with steps and gateway. C18. Stone coursed rubble walls.
Ashlar steps. Oak gate and gateposts with cast-iron lamp
canopy. Wall extends, mostly as a churchyard retaining wall,
approximately 50 metres to north, east and south of churchyard
incorporating gateway on east side and niche with iron water
trough on north side. Steps to gateway have shallow flight of
sandstone ashlar treads with small stepped flanking walls. C20
gate set on probably C19 oak posts with carved cap, chamfers,
and inset trefoils. Wrought-iron canopy frame over gateway
consists of 2 curved square-section bars with ornamental
cusping supporting lamp bracket.
Included for group value with Church of St Michael (qv), Manor
Farmhouse (qv), and Old Rectory (qv).
