482-1/5/97 Bridge approximately 100 metres to
west of Brook House

GV II

Bridge. Dated 1857. Brick and ashlar. Single-span road bridge
over Ledwyche Brook. Brick segmental arch of polychrome brick.
Inclined brick parapet walls linking with curved brick
retaining approach walls with piers at terminations and
mid-span. Pyramid ashlar copings to piers. Inscribed stone
inset in central pier with date 1857 and initials CHRB,
referring to Sir Charles Henry Rouse-Boughton of Downton,
landlord and lord of the manor, and very active mid C19
improver of his estates.
