Canal house later used as a railway signalman's house. c1795
for the Leominster-Stourport Canal and altered c1858 for the
Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway Company. Red brick in Flemish
garden-wall bond. Plain-tiled roof with gabled ends. Brick
lateral stack at rear with 2 diagonally-set shafts and brick
stack on side of outshut with tall shaft.
PLAN: probably originally single-room plan with entrance to
left of front and heated from lateral stack from rear.
Extended by addition of heated single storey outshut at
right-hand (north-west) end in mid C19.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 2 windows with metal casements (leaded
panes missing) in segmental-headed openings. Similar but
smaller casement to left of centre in gable, without transom.
Segmental arch to doorway on left with plank door.
Single-storey outshut on right-hand end with tall brick stack
and similar windows in left-hand (south-east) gable end. Part
projecting lateral stack at rear with very small square window
to left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
