Farmhouse. Early C17, with early C19 alterations and
extensions. Timber frame of small square framing 5 panels high
with 2 tiers of long straight tension braces and C19 brick
nogging and C17 wattle and daub infill; gable walls and most
of front wall replaced by early C19 coursed limestone rubble
with brick quoins. Gabled old tile roof, early C19 integral
brick eaves stack to right. C17 3-unit plan with early C19
extensions to left.
EXTERIOR: south front is a 3-storey, 3-window range. Segmental
stone arches over 2 doorways to left; brick segmental arches
over C20 2-light casement to ground-floor right and C19
2-light casement to first-floor left, 3 further C19 2-light
casements with leaded lights to each floor. Single-storey
gabled projecting early C19 stone rubble service wing to left.
Stone rubble gable ends with brick gables, C19 2-light
casement at each floor with brick or stone segmental arches,
the left side ground-floor lintel is part of former girding
beam, the right gable apex with reset ashlar plaque inscribed
`EB MB 1652'.
Rear: projecting early C19 2-storey extension to right, of
English garden wall bond brick; to left is a small projecting
brick tiled gabled porch with a range of square framing behind
with C19 2-light casements.
INTERIOR: single trenched-purlin roof with 2 internal trusses
consisting of tie beam, vertical struts. collar and twin
raking struts; interrupted tie beam with vertical posts and
collar. Chamfered bridging beams with stepped concave
chamfered stops. Large fireplace with bracketed early C19
mantelshelf, ashlar surround and cast-iron range.
