House, now shop with offices over. c1800. Fine-jointed red
brickwork with Bath stone dressings, Welsh slate roof behind
tall parapet, brick chimney stacks.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 3 bays, with 2-bay extension to left.
Stone plinth, rusticated pilasters, cornice and plain coped
parapet. Ground floor bays 1 and 3 have C20 small-pane shop
windows, and in bay 2 a pair of 3-panel doors set in stone
doorcase having Doric pilasters, flat entablature with hood,
and feature a cast-iron rectangular fanlight. Sash windows
above, 12-pane to first floor and 9-pane to second floor, with
gauged brick flat arches. Still readable over door is legend
"Alexander Baily Licensed Brewing Victualler/Dealer in Foreign
Spirits, Liquors and Tobacco". (The Baily family were brewing
in a number of locations in East Somerset/West Wiltshire).
Extension to left, of two storeys, has hipped slate roof
without parapet, stone plinth and rusticated corner pilaster,
blind openings both levels bay 1, and sash windows in bay 2,
12-pane to ground floor and 9-pane to first floor. Both west
side elevations rendered as in the rear.
