GV II*

House. c1740. Brick laid to Flemish bond, with ashlar
dressings; renewed tile roof with coped gables and brick end
stacks. Georgian style. Central staircase plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 5-window range.
Ashlar plinth, plat band over ground floor, top cornice and
quoins. Elliptical-headed entrance has porch with Doric
columns, return entablatures and enriched swan-neck pediment;
fanlight with thick glazing bars over small-paned half-glazed
door. Windows have moulded sills, and rubbed brick flat arches
with fluted ashlar key blocks over 6/6 sashes; attic has 3
gabled dormers with weatherboarding over 3/3 sashes. Gabled
roof. Stacks have ashlar cornices.
Gabled wing to rear has modillioned brick cornice and stair
window; smaller C20 wing to left.
Left return attached to Pear Tree Cottage (not included).
