House. C16 with later alterations and additions including
raised roof and C20 extensions to left and rear. Rendered
timber-framing on blue lias rubble plinth with thicker,
rendered brick or stone, walls to left; steeply pitched old
tile roof with brick end stacks. 3-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; 4-window range. Entrance left
of centre in forward-break has 6-panel door in moulded wood
frame. Large window to left of entrance has 3-light
small-paned casement, smaller similar window above; left end
has small square window with 2-light casement with leaded
glazing to each floor; right end has pair of windows under
dripmould, each with 2-light small-paned casement, 2 small
windows above have small-paned casements with leaded glazing;
attic has 2 gabled dormers with 2-light leaded casements.
Left return has nesting holes in gable and single-storey
addition with French windows to front.
Right return has small square window with 2-light wooden
ovolo-mullioned window.
Rear has gabled wing with stack; small first-floor window with
ovolo-moulded frame and leaded glazing.
INTERIOR: small section of exposed close studding to left end;
stop-chamfered spine beam and inglenook fireplace with
chamfered bressumer, round-backed recess to left with shelves,
possibly originally bacon-curing cupboard and niche to right
return, with cut-outs to sides, forming seat, left return wall
with later opening; winding stair and exposed roof trusses.
First-floor chimney in front of the flue from that to ground
floor, space above fireplace possibly priest hole; some C17
dado panelling to first-floor front.
