Friday Cottage
GV II
House. C17 with c1972 restoration and 1970s and 1980s
additions. Timber-frame with plastered and brick infill on
rubble plinth; steeply pitched thatched roof with brick end
stack. Gable facing, front to right; single-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey plus attic. Entrance has plank door in
wood frame. Window to right has 2-light leaded casement;
eyebrow dormer to attic; end stack is offset away from
original cottage with offset to rear.
Addition to right has gabled dormer over lean-to conservatory;
further addition in form of octagonal pavilion connected by
enclosed corridor over loggia. Window in front gable end has
2-light casement.
Rear has 2 windows to ground floor with 3-light leaded
casements. 2-panel-high square framing with tension bracing to
end.
INTERIOR: chamfered spine beam and stone fireplace with
bressumer; 2-bay roof has altered truss with cut tie beam,
collar and crossed apex, riven rafters.
