Garden folly. C18 or possibly C19. Coursed limestone. 2
barrel-vaulted tunnels adjacent to each other under shrubbery.
Both tunnels are slightly curved on plan with entrances to
either end. They are about 1m wide and 2m high with circular
ventilation or light shafts at about 4m intervals capped with
wrought iron grilles. The 1st tunnel has a baffle entrance to
one end. Towards one end of the 2nd tunnel is a short spur
tunnel leading up to a wider entrance chamber.
Ettington Park is an ancient deer park, landscaped in the C18
and altered when the house (Ettington Park qv) was altered and
enlarged 1853-62.
