SNITTERFIELD

Barn with attached ancillary buildings. Probably c1700 with
later alterations. Timber-frame with mainly C19 brick infill
and weatherboarding to gable walls; tile roof.
EXTERIOR: 3-bay structure with aisle to south-west. Opposed
central threshing floor entrances. Square framing with passing
braces to lower corner panels; heavily jowled posts.
Attached buildings are early C19 brick; one with low-swept
gable-end roof, the other with cart entrance
INTERIOR: recorded as having largely original pegged tie beam
and collar trusses with queen posts (and additional king
struts) and V-struts above collars; partly closed trusses
flanking threshing floor have original pegged diagonal braces
with slightly later nailed additional braces, and some
probably original boarding; double trenched purlins and wind
braces. Flagged threshing floor.
