Jasmine House

GV II

House. c1840. For Robert Needham Philips. Brick with ashlar
dressings; tile roof with brick return lateral stack and stack
to rear, both with octagonal shafts. Single-unit plan plus
cross-wing to right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range. Stone-coped ashlar
plinth, wide eaves and enriched bargeboard. Entrance to left
of cross-wing has ashlar doorcase with Tudor arch and cornice;
half-glazed door.
Double-chamfered mullioned windows project slightly under
labels; ground floor has 3-light window to left, and
cross-wing has 1:3:1-light canted bay window with ashlar
hipped roof; first floor has 3-light window to left and to
cross-wing; all have decorative glazing with elongated
octagons. Gabled roofs.
Left return has projecting lateral stack with truncated shafts
and 2-light window to left; right return has single-storey
addition; rear has end stack to gable with caps to shafts;
lean-to outshut to right and C20 casements.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
