Bath house and garden pavilion, now used for holiday
accommodation. c1750, extensively restored 1987-91. Attributed
to Sanderson Miller; shellwork by Mary Delaney. Cyclopean
masonry and ashlar; slate roof with small return lateral
stack. 2-storey structure built into slope of ground, with
canted front.
EXTERIOR: Cyclopean basement; sill course and top cornice to
upper floor. Basement has large elliptical-arched recess with
round-headed entrance with gate; upper floor has 3 windows
with architraves to 6/6 sash and two 4/4 sashes; blind panels
above. Rear has pediment and impost band to large round-arched
recess with archivolt and key block; entrance with 6-panel
door and 2 small windows.
INTERIOR: basement has rough masonry with rough piers
supporting vault with flattish stones projecting downwards;
sunken ashlar plunge bath. Upper floor has vault; plasterwork
and shellwork re-created from surviving fragments; plaster
icicles to ceiling; shell festoons to walls; C20 fireplace has
rosette with surviving C18 shells.
