Crescent
(Formerly Listed as:
PARK CRESCENT
Wall and Gate posts to Garden of
Park Crescent)
GV II
Gate piers. 1822. For James Ireland, as the part of the
southern boundary wall of his Royal Gardens. Stucco. Square in
plan with chamfered plinths, round-arched niches and
entablatures with triglyphs and guttae, deep moulded cornices
and blocking courses. The walls to either side have been so
far altered, following damage by the hurricane of October
1987, as to be no longer of architectural or historic
interest; the gates, of late C19 or early C20 date, have been
inserted from elsewhere. The figures of a lion and a lioness
on the gate piers, mentioned in the previous list description,
were removed in 1987.
