Terraced houses, set back from the present street line. Late
C18. Red brick laid in Flemish bond, roof obscured by parapet.
3 storeys over basement with dormers, No.16 of 3-window range,
No.17 of 2-window range. Round-arched entrance in outer bay
with head of gauged red brick; fanlight; doorcase consisting
of fluted pilasters with embossed necking, deep cornice and
fluted archivolt. All windows cambered-arched with heads of
gauged red brick; No.17 has a late C19 bay with hipped roof to
basement and ground floor; first-floor windows of No.16 have
blind boxes; sashes of original design to No.16 throughout,
probably much renewed in the upper part, and to second floor
of No.17; original rainwater head between houses; the upper
part of both houses probably much rebuilt; parapet; 2 dormers
to No.16, one to No.17; stacks to party wall rebuilt.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Cast-iron area railings with
spearhead finials, spear-and- tassel subsidiary finials, and
elaborate console brackets, replaced in part.
