Aisled barn. C17 or earlier, with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed squared rubble sandstone, with quoins and a stone slated roof covering, laid to diminishing courses.
NORTH ELEVATION :5 bay, single storey barn with shallow central porch enclosing full-height vertically- planked double doors. 2 tiers of blocked vents in walling either side of doorway. Blocked single doorway to bay at right-hand end with massive surround and C20 inserted window to upper part. Central bay of left-hand part has doorway with small window opening to right. East gable with blocked vents, wide centre opening now partially blocked and reduced in size to form single opening. Flanking the doorway are blocked ground floor openings. Former loft door in gable apex now with C20 frame.
INTERIOR: Aisled timber-framed interior, with jowelled aisle posts supporting arcade plates and tie beams, with longitudinal and lateral bracing. The aisle posts carry king post trusses with longitudinal braces supporting the ridge purlin, and angled struts to principal rafters which support double side purlins. Inserted loft and access stair to east end.
A substantial and little altered aisled barn with a complete internal timber-framed structure.
