Terraced house. c1815. Probably designed by Amon Wilds. Brick
in Flemish bond, mathematical tile and stucco on bay
spandrels; stucco scored to imitate ashlaring on the return.
2-span roof of slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and dormer. One-window range. Flat-arched
entrance up flight of steps on the return; there is a shallow
porch above supported by a pair of brackets and flanked by
Tuscan pilasters. The ground floor of main elevation is taken
up by a shop front of C20; above a full-height segmental bay
with tripartite, flat-arched windows. Sashes of original
design to first-floor windows, 6/9 to centre and 4/6 to sides.
Spandrils of mathematical tile; second-floor window spandrels
faced in stucco. Roof parapet, behind which one flat-arched
dormer. Verandah to first floor is nearly full width;
rectangular in plan bowing out slightly in front of the bay;
metal concave roof; wooden railings in lattice pattern;
stanchions treated as open-fretted Ionic pilasters supporting
an openwork entablature. Brick stack to end wall. The
placement of the bay just slightly left off the central axis
suggests that there may have been an early C19 entrance on the
right party wall.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
