Pair of terraced cottages. Early C19. Yellow stock brick. 2
storeys and basements. 2 windows each. Red brick round-arched
doorways with keystones and impost bands and panelled pilaster
jambs; radial patterned fanlights and panelled doors
approached by steps. Gauged red brick flat arches to recessed
sashes with blind boxes; ground floors tripartite. Parapets.
INTERIORS: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached
cast-iron railings on low brick wall and gates to forecourt.
HISTORICAL NOTE: No.2 was occupied by the painter John
Constable in the summers of 1821 and 1822.
