GV II

House, formerly 2 houses. c1688 built by William Blake, c1900
both houses used as a school, c1930-1 extensive conversion to
single residence by Seely and Paget with additions at north &
south ends. Red brick with plain brick band at 1st floor
level. Tiled roof with dormers and moulded wooden eaves
cornice with block brackets in groups of 3.
2 storeys, attic and semi-basement. 8 windows to original
house. 2 entrances in penultimate bays of cambered arches to
panelled doors with overlights. Flush framed sashes with
exposed boxing; ground floor with cambered arch heads.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railings with urn
finials on low forecourt walls; brick gate piers with stone
caps supporting wrought-iron gate with elaborate overthrow
surmounted by an urn. Gate possibly an Edwardian replica of an
early to mid C18 type or removed from original setting.
