II
House, now divided. Circa 1890, built for Mr Cubitt by J. H. Wadling. Red brick
below, fishscale and plain tile hanging above,swept out over ground floor. Plain
tiled roofs with ridge cresting and gable finials. L-shaped plan. Two storeys
and attics with ribbed and corbelled,decorative multiple stacks to roof ridges.
Gabled range projecting to left with one,4-light attic dormer and two,12-pane sash
windows on ground floor under gauged brick heads. Gabled, bargeboarded dormer on
right hand wall of wing, two first and one ground floor sash windows below.
Gabled dormer to centre with irregular fenestration below; two first floor sashes
and one first floor casement window over one between-floors casement. One ground
floor sash window under cambered head and one glazed door under similar head
giving access to flats. Gabled break to right with oriel attic window on scroll
brackets under gabled break. 15-light, (3 x 5) first floor window with decorative
glazing. One cambered-head decoratively glazed window to ground floor, left of
the main entrance, sash window to right. Door of 9 fielded panels with arched
head of radiating panels above, foliage carved spandrels flanking. Deep shell
hood with dentils over, on console brackets and ribbed brick,attached, Doric
columns. Left hand return front:- large gabled attic on ridge. Two shuttered
first floor windows, 3 cambered-head sash windows below. Central door recess.
Single storey wings projecting to ends. Right hand return front:- large gable
with first floor oriel window on brackets. Pentice extension on ground floor.
Rear:- double angle bays under wide gables flanking recessed centre; glazing bar
sash fenestration with central dormer above.
