House now offices. Central range 1786 reconstructed after a fire in
1860 when end angle bays were added, these were made into two storey
wings during the 1890s. Red brick to centre, stucco clad and incised
under hipped plain tile roofs. Three storey centre block with two
storey wings over basement. Symmetrical five bay centre range,
central bay in shallow projecting brake with single bay wings with
angle bays rising through both floors. Modillion eaves cornice with
plat bands over basement ground and first floors. Central pediment
and moulded cornice over side wings with smaller pediments. Plate glass
sash fenestration throughout. Five windows in first and second floors
with shallow balconies of centre range. Central window three-light in
architrave surrounds. Cornice hood and segmental pediment over centre
light of first floor central window. Four windows on ground floor with
scroll balconies. Central portico, flat roofed, approached up a flight
of steps with D-shaped ends to balustrade walls. Doric style with square
piers and four columns carrying guttae, triglyph frieze and iron balcony
above.
Rear: red brick with bowed bay to centre and blocked lunette in pediment
above. Projecting side wings.
Interior: gutted,although surviving staircase with twisted iron balusters
in hall and some fire place surrounds.
Possible association with the Cubitts. Undergoing restoration and conversion
at time of re-survey.
