- II
Former farmhouse; now part offices, part domestic. C16 and C17; L-shaped
form. Timber-framed and rendered with C20 surfacing. Plaintiles. 2 internal
chimney-stacks with plain rebuilt shafts. 2-light and 3-light C20 standard
casement windows throughout. C19 and C20 red brick extensions along part of
the front; half-glazed porch. Main range, in 4 bays, includes one large 2-bay
room on the ground floor which has multiple roll-mouldings with run-off stops
to the main beams and mouldings to the tops of the main posts, all mutilated.
Simple Jacobean panelling along one wall. The remaining timbering is plain:
good studding with arched braces; jowled main posts with braces removed; a
blocked stair-trap in one room, and one upper window with diamond mullions in
situ. The large cross-wing is a later C17 addition, with poorer framing and
side-purlin roof.
