Orangery. Circa 1790, by James Wyatt. Brick and stucco, lined in imitation
of ashlar except on the facade. Single storey. Symmetrical 9-bay facade, the
bays divided by Composite pilasters; semi-circular portico carried on 4
detached and 2 threequarter-engaged columns; frieze enriched with paterae over
the pilasters and swags between, dentilled cornice and balustraded parapet.
The 2 end bays are narrower and unglazed: each has a semi-domed niche with a
Coade stone statue within; above each niche is a Coade stone panel. The
remaining 7 bays have full-width semi-circular headed sash windows. 3-bay
returns, also divided by pilasters. The floor was altered in mid C19 and the
roof structure is C20. The statues bear the date 1789.
