3 houses, formerly 2. C15 and early C16 with later alterations. Timber-framed and rendered.
Left gable end faced in flint with a weathered gable. Pantiled roof with 2 red brick ridge stacks and 1 gault brick stack to rear of ridge. Nos 4 and 6 comprise a 3-unit open hall house with No 8 an in-line addition set at a slight angle, all forming 1 long range. 2 storeys with attic to No 8. 6-window range, 1-, 2-, and 3-light mainly C20 casements. 5 similar casements to ground floor with boarded and battened door to No 4, mid C20 panelled door to No 6 and boarded door to No 8. Similar casements to rear where a gable to No 8 indicates the position of former wing, now a C20 extension. Interior: Some good C15 framing exposed in Nos 4 and 6: heavy studding with reverse-curved braces, moulded and embattled dais beam, evidence for hall windows with square or oblong mullions. Largely intact lighted sooted roof over hall:an octagonal crown-post with moulded base and cap and 4-way bracing at the head. C17 inserted floor in hall, altered C19. Service end to left largely rebuilt C20. No 8 is in 4 bays:some exposed framing showing evidence for diamond-mullion windows. Unusual first-floor
structure: between the 2 left hand bays is a knee-braced bridging beam with ogee mouldings which are carried down the wall posts; intersecting with this is an axial beam of pine, 5.5m long and running through 3 bays to the end of the house, probably a C17 insertion. The stack is a slightly later insertion backing onto the C15 range: ground floor fireplace has moulded bressummer over narrowed opening. 2 open roof trusses, each with arched-braced tie beam carrying a square unmoulded crown post with 2-way bracing to the collar purlin.
