House, in 2 distinct builds, now divided into 3 cottages. C16 and early C17.
2 Storeys and attics. Timber-framed, with C20 render and pargetted panels;
pantiled and plaintiled roofs; an internal chimney-stack with a plain rebuilt
red brick shaft to No.1 (Ma cushla Cottage), and another internal stack
between Nos. 2 and 3 with the remains of small pilasters of triangular section
running up the front. C20 small-paned casement windows; C20 doors. Nos. 1
and 2 together formed one 3-cell early C16 house, storeyd throughout, with a
chimney stack between hall and parlour. The timbering is plain and heavy with
exposed studding, main beams, posts and joists. Housing for a 5-light
diamond-mullioned window. The west end of the frame has settled badly, and
the ceiling has been replaced by later lightweight joists. At the east end,
the partition dividing the service rooms has been removed, and the chimney-
stack added to the east wall links with the C17 extension, with a higher
roofline, which forms No.3. This contains some good plain timbering, and the
remains of ovolo-moulded mullioned windows. Side purlin roofs.
