Town house. 1783, altered repaired and converted to offices
1989. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Painted stone plinth; 2 stone steps to
door of 6 fielded panels with overlight expressed as a looped
radial-bar fanlight in a pedimented doorcase, east. 2 replaced
flush 2-pane sashes, 3 to the second storey and 3 of shorter
proportion to third storey; 12 panes to first and second
storeys and 9 panes to third storey. Second storey sillband
and first and third storey sills of painted stone; painted
slightly cambered gauged brick window-heads; cornice;
rainwater head with bracket dated 1783; east chimney shared
with No.1 Stanley Place (qv); west gable chimney. The rear is
altered in detail, with sashes under repair at time of survey.
INTERIOR: the first storey front room has panelling beneath
dado rail, panelled shutters in embrasures, a cornice, a rear
alcove under a 3-centre arch and a later fireplace. The
open-string dogleg stair has shaped brackets, plinthed stick
balusters, paired tapered newels at turn and swept handrail.
The second storey front room has panelling beneath dado rail,
panelled shutters in embrasures, cornice and a later
fireplace. 4 doors of 6 fielded panels, 2 in first storey and
2 in second storey.
