Shops and storage; Nos 104, 106 & 110 were probably formerly
shops with living accommodation and No.108 a shop and
warehouse. Early C19, altered. Brown brick, in Flemish bond to
front. Grey slate roof has main ridge parallel with street and
plainly pedimented central front gable.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. The north gable end and part of the rear
are rebuilt. Nos 104 & 106 has an early C20 chemist's
shopfront of wood with panelled end-pilasters and fascia,
4-course stall-riser of purple glazed brick, recessed central
12-pane door and leaded stained glass above the transoms. The
shopfronts of Nos 108 & 110 are of no interest. The upper
storeys of the central bay, No.108, are altered; loading doors
to the second and third storeys are replaced by smaller
sashes, and the hoist arm above is cut off: Nos 104 & 106 has
2 recessed 12-pane sashes to the second storey with stone
sills and gauged brick heads; 2 recessed 6-pane sashes to the
third storey have stone sills and one-course lintels. No.108,
in replaced brickwork, has a tall recessed horned 12-pane sash
to the second storey. Painted stone stooled sills and cambered
brick heads. No.110 has a blocked inner window to each upper
storey, a 12 pane second storey outer sash similar to Nos 104
& 106 and a third storey sash of 4 panes.
INTERIOR: the chemist's shop in Nos 104 & 106 retained
original furnishings when inspected; the shops in Nos 108 &
110 have no evident features of interest; the upper storeys,
partly rebuilt, were not inspected.
