4 small town houses, No.112 now left wing of hotel. 1830s. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof, ridge parallel with front. 3 storeys, one bay per house. Painted stone plinth; 3 steps to doors, of 6 fielded panels to Nos 116 and 118, replaced to No.114 and overbuilt on Lloyds of Chester Hotel; Nos 114, 116 and 118 have doorcases with fluted pilasters, friezes and pediments; simple overlight to No.114 and radial bar overlights to Nos 116 and 118; painted stone sills; sillband to first floor; wedge lintels. The wing of the Lloyds of Chester Hotel, right, and No.118, left, have recessed 16-pane sashes to ground floor and first floor; a 12-pane unequal sash to second floor of the Lloyds of Chester Hotel and a 16-pane sash to second floor of No.118; windows are replaced to No.114, as are the cross-casements, probably C19, to No.116, all in unaltered openings. A lead rainwater pipe and moulded rainwater head between the Lloyds of Chester Hotel and No.114; moulded cornice and 1-course parapet of painted stone.
INTERIORS not inspected; the rear is concealed from public viewpoints.
The main block of the hotel, refaced by Lockwood in the 1900s, is not included in this item.
