Anglican church. 1841-42. By RD Chantrell. Coursed squared
gritstone and ashlar, stone slate roof. Neo-Norman style. 4
bays to nave with round-headed windows, pilasters and corbel
table. West bellcote and 2-light window, polygonal east end,
added vestry to NE with 3-light mullioned window and
hoodmould. Shallow gabled S porch has zigzag carved round
arch.
INTERIOR: nave of 3 bays, the windows with re-set medieval and
C19 glass, queen-post roof with ovolo-moulded arched braces;
wide chancel arch, carved wooden reredos by Martin Travers
with large figures of St Peter and St Paul, chancel ceiling
has wooden canopy with dove. West gallery supported on 4
wooden columns has organ built by Adam and Smith in 1901 and
improved by M Spink, 1988.
