War memorial. c1920. Portland stone. Square base, approx 3m
high, a stepped and tapering shaft with rectangular panels
carrying inscriptions and figures in relief. On the E face an
inscription: 'TO THE MEN/ OF FARNLEY/ ALL HONOUR/ GIVE TO
THOSE/ WHO NOBLY/ STRIVING/ NOBLY FELL/ THAT WE/ MIGHT/ LIVE/
1914.1918'; figures of old man with child above. On the N and
S sides panels with 64 names, the panels above depicting a
sailor with battleship in background, and a woman with child
and dog standing in front of a wall, marching soldiers beyond.
