Former railway crossing keeper's house. Mid-C19. Ashlar with edged
herringbone tooling, and timber framing; shaped tile roof with plain
tile bands; ashlar ridge stack. Aligned north-south facing south.
South gable: 2 storeys with timber framed and jettied upper storey
and fretted barge boards; central gabled porch with 4-centred arch
opening, bay window to first floor with hipped roof. East front:
3-light casement to ground floor left, small casement to first floor
left. The Churnet Valley Railway was opened in 1849.
