HOLLINGTON
Churchyard wall to south east of Church of St. John
GV
II
Churchyard wall and gates. Probably 1859-61 and part of the commission
of G. E. Street. Coursed rough faced Hollington sandstone. Pitched
coping. The wall is approximately 1200mm high except to the east where
it retains the churchyard to a much greater depth; entered to the south
by double, timber, panelled gates set in a splay and with an overthrow.
The wall adds much of the deep, narrow lane atmosphere of the hamlet centre
and runs into the crossroads directly facing Cross House (qv), Cross
Cottage (qv) and Yard Farmhouse (qv).
